A Little Bit About Lauren, and her take on Teaching YOU what you NEED to SUCCEED!

Stepping Into the Arts

Your personal journey into the world of the arts is as special to Lauren as it is to you. Lauren has performed in small black box theatres, teacher's living rooms for recitals, to Shakespeare's Globe Stage in London, and Carnegie Hall in New York, and everywhere in between. She has a reverence for the space in which we perform, no matter how big or small - and seeks to create a safe space, filled with magic and joy for all her students; to bring those huge resonant spaces like The Globe, and Carnegie Hall, into our small living rooms and homes. Not everyone gets incredible opportunities dropped on their doorstep, and Lauren is so very grateful for the connections she has made, and experiences she has had. It is her goal to pay it forward in some way, and as such she tries to go above and beyond for her students, to make them feel that their dreams (like her own of performing on stage at Carnegie Hall, and on Shakespeare's Globe Stage) can actually happen. And wherever she can, she tries to make the right introductions and connections to help everyone along their chosen path.

Piano Lessons

Introducing music at any age can be a daunting experience, but Lauren likes to keep it fun for everyone. From allowing young students to explore composing their own tunes within daily lessons, or helping more mature students grasp the concept needed to play their favourite songs, Lauren's philosophy is to be passionate about your music, so with her as your teacher, "anything goes!" Lauren is a registered teacher with The Royal Conservatory of Music, and holds the distinction of Elementary Piano Specialist through the Conservatory. If you'd like to pursue Conservatory exams please let her know so she can help get you there!

Voice & Singing Lessons

Lauren has coached singing with theatre and music companies such as Liberty Junction Theatre Inc, Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts, and Peter MacDonald Music Studio/ and Productions (as both singing teacher, and dialect coach on musical productions). Her passion is helping students find clarity in the sounds their body can produce. Lauren is a registered RCM teacher and can prepare students for vocal examinations through the Conservatory, as well as sing for fun lessons. Whether you like to sing in the shower or want to perform for an audience, Lauren can help you with pitch & confidence! Lauren also works with a few select dialects, and has helped performers perfect their accents for stage roles. Alongside voice, is vocal production for stage; which Lauren has worked on through her studies at Shakespeare's Globe in London, England. As well as during her time at The University of Toronto, working as a teaching assistant for Cindy Block's Voice for Actors class with undergraduate level students in second, third, and fourth years. Lauren is well versed in vocal production, as well as text analysis to accompany the performance.

Acting & Audition Preparation

Lauren has been coaching acting and audition prep. for a number of years, through various theatre companies but also as a mentor to undergraduates at The University of Exeter, and The University of Toronto while she was a post-graduate student at those institutions. Lauren's goal is to fine tune her students' performance skills, aiming for clarity, expression, engagement, and charisma. Lauren can help artists wishing to break into the arts with resume construction, headshot choice, finding agents as well as preparing monologues, training the acting voice, and figuring out just how exactly to ACE that audition and get your foot in the door! Let Lauren give you all the tips and pointers you need to be positive, confident, and successful as a performer. Lauren is a registered RCM teacher and can also prepare students for conservatory Drama exams.
